The Night Garden, Teddington
PDF Project Profile

Contract | £100,000
Client | Private
Status | Complete

From a hammock, the backdrop of large mature trees and views over a large pond to the rear garden helps create this secluded oasis of calm in the heart of suburbia. The composition is a static simple form of timber structure juxtaposed with the gentle movement of tree branches, morphing the built and natural environment. The structure contains the external space and provides a series of smaller zones.

The plant species used are generally found locally to pond and shady environments. Steel gabions, translucent panels allow light, nature and wildlife to amalgamate in the space. At night the gardens transforms into a different space with varying lighting schemes creating subtle changes in ambience for entertainment, dining or even an alfresco cinema.
