The Bridgen Science Centre reimagines the existing Fairfield Building at Kingston Grammar School as a dedicated home for science, bringing specialist teaching, study and collaboration together within a single building.

The proposal organises the sciences vertically, with Chemistry at the ground floor, Biology above and Physics occupying the upper level. New laboratories, computer science studios and teaching rooms are supported by dedicated preparation spaces tailored to the technical requirements of each discipline.

At the heart of the scheme is a flexible science lecture theatre, while new study booths create places for individual learning and informal study. A new science garden adjoining the Biology department extends teaching outdoors, with raised planters, seating and a greenhouse forming a living resource for the natural sciences.

The refurbishment also gives the building a clearer identity within the wider school campus, with a more defined entrance, improved circulation, upgraded accessibility and renewable technologies integrated into the building.
